Bio
Johanna Naukkarinen (b. 1988, Kuopio) works with the themes that intersect with the history of medicine and the history of art. She uses theories of feminist image research to trace the path from historical images to more contemporary images that portray womanhood.
Naukkarinen works mainly with photography and digital drawing, but sometimes her works expand to mixed media practices. Naukkarinen graduated as a Bachelor of Culture and Arts from the fine art photography department in Arts Academy at Turku University of Applied Sciences and got her Master of Arts degree in media studies department in the University of Turku.
Her works are represented in the collections of Turku Art Museum, Kuopio Art Museum and Turku City Art Collection. She has had eight solo exhibitions including exhibitions in Photographic Centre Peri, 2024; GalleriA, 2022; Galleria Huuto, 2020 and Turku Art Museum Studio, 2016.
